What the mirror does with your face
To draw a style on your reflection, the LUX mirror finds the shape of your face and hands in each camera frame. That shape is a set of moving points, computed on the mirror and thrown away as soon as the next frame is drawn. It is never stored, never sent to LUX or anyone else, never attached to your name or record, and cannot identify you.
LUX does not use facial recognition and does not create, keep or compare faceprints, face templates or any other biometric identifier. Nothing about your face is used to find out who you are or to match you against any database.

What is stored — only with your consent
A photo is taken only when a member of the salon’s team takes one and you have agreed to photos at that salon. A photo is a picture, not a biometric identifier; we do not derive one from it.
Photos are kept for the period the salon sets (30 days to 10 years; one year by default), and you can delete any photo of yourself at any time.

Retention and destruction schedule

If LUX ever intends to collect a biometric identifier, we will publish a new version of this schedule and ask for your written consent first.

Where you are
Illinois
If you are in Illinois, this page is the written notice and retention schedule required by the Biometric Information Privacy Act. LUX does not collect biometric identifiers or biometric information as defined by that Act. Where a salon asks you to agree to mirror photos, the consent screen also records your written release to the on-device face tracking described above.
Texas and Washington
LUX does not capture a biometric identifier for a commercial purpose and does not enrol anyone in a biometric system.
Colorado
LUX does not collect biometric identifiers; this page is our notice of that and of our retention schedule.
New York City
A salon that uses a LUX mirror in New York City displays the sign we supply at its entrance. LUX never sells, leases or shares biometric identifier information.
Portland, Oregon
Face-tracking features are disabled on mirrors registered at a Portland address.

The sign at the station
Every salon displays this notice at each station with a LUX mirror.

LUX does not use facial recognition.
